Special Orientation Programmefor Newly Registered Students on 12.01.2019 at ICSI-Coimbatore Chapter

Coimbatore Chapter of ICSI had conducted a special Orientation Programme on 12.01.2019 for the newly registered Foundation & Executive Programme Students at the premises of Coimbatore Chapter. The main objective of the programme is to provide awareness to the students about the importance of the institute, how to utilize the resources of the institute, Training Structure, Online Facilities, Utilization of Chapter and its resources, Importance for checking the institute website links like Academic Corners, Students Announcements, Student Journals etc., Importance for undergoing Articleship Training, Quality of Classes at “ICSI Chapters” Vs “Private Tuition Centers” etc. The Special Orientation was handled by Mr. Sreejith.P, EO, ICSI-Coimbatore Chapter.

Professional Development Programme for Members on the topic “Recent Developments in Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code” held on 19.01.2019, Saturday at Chapter Premises from 6 P.M to 8.30 P.M.

Coimbatore Chapter of ICSI had organized a Professional Development Programme for the Members& Students on the topic “Recent Developments in Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code” held on 19.01.2019 at Chapter Premises from 6 p.m to 8.30 p.m. CA R Raghavendran, Practicing Chartered Accountant, Coimbatore was the speaker of the programme. The programme got benefited by total 50 participants including Members and students. 

Inauguration of NEW BATCHES of Coaching Classes for Foundation & Executive Programme at Chapter premises on 21.01.2019

Coimbatore Chapter of ICSI had inaugurated its Oral Coaching Classes for regular batchfor appearing CS June 2019 Examination. Around 85 students were attended the inaugural function on 21.01.2019. Total 5 batches and total 210 students are currently attending classes in 5 batches. Students from various districts viz. Tirupur, Erode, Nilgiris, Trichy etc. are attending classes at the premises of Coimbatore Chapter. CS R Maheswaran, Chairman, ICSI Coimbatore Chapter & Mr. Sreejith.P, Executive Officer were addressed the students. The Inauguration of the weekend classes was held on 26.01.2019 and around 70 students had attended the inaugural function.

Republic Day Celebration at Chapter Premises

Coimbatore Chapter celebrated Republic day Celebration on 26th January 2019 at chapter premises. CS R.Maheswaran, Chairman addressed the gathering and said that we should always remember our Great Indian freedom fighters who had struggled a lot for getting “Purna Swaraj” in India and we should follow their ideology to lead our country ahead.

Joint Seminar on Union Budget 2019 on 05.02.2019

On 05.02.2019, a Joint Programme on "Union Budget 2019” on the theme “Populism Vs Economics” organised by Coimbatore Chapter of SIRC of ICSI, Coimbatore Chapter of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India, Coimbatore Management Association & PSG Institute of Management, Coimbatore at PSG Institute of Management, Peelamedu, Coimbatore.

First Session on Union Budget 2016 was handled by CA. M Sathya Kumar, Chartered Accountant, Chennai. He elaborated the various schemes announced by the Finance Minister Shri Piyush Goyal for the benefit of the farmers and the common man.

Another speaker CA. K Ravi, CFO, Roots Group of Companies highlighted the points on the direct and indirect tax implications and how budget impacts the Indian Economy, Indian GDP, annual growth, Sectoral Share in GDP, FDI, Indian Foreign Exchange Trade, Administrative Reforms, Sector Impact, Banking & Financial Service etc.  

The programme was very interactive and the queries raised by the participants were duly addressed by all the speakers in their respective sessions, and the programme was actively attended by 250 participants which included 47 CS members& 12 CS Students.

2 Days Residential Programme – 21st Residential Programme on 22nd, 23rd & 24th  February, 2019 at Hotel The Carlton, Kodaikanal, Tamilnadu

Coimbatore Chapter of SIRC of ICSI haveorganisedits 21stResidential Programme on the theme “Company Secretaries – to Discover, Determine & Deliver - D3” on 22nd , 23rd & 24th February, 2019 at Hotel The Carlton, Kodaikanal, Tamilnadu. The two days residential programme was well attended by about 181 participants including 115 members & 10 students alongwith their spouse and children.

On 22ndFebruary, 2019, the programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Shri. P R Seshadri, MD & CEO, Karur Vysya Bank, Karur & CS Nagendra D Rao, Central Council Member, ICSI, New Delhi by lighting the lamp alongwith other dignitaries, CS R. Maheswaran, Chairman, CS N Singaravel, Vice  Chairman, CS K Duraiswami, Secretary, CS R. Palanikumar, Treasurer, Coimbatore Chapter of SIRC of ICSI.

CS R. Maheswaran, Chairman of the Coimbatore Chapter welcomed the gathering and introduced the theme. Shri. P R Seshadri, while delivering his inaugural address stated that the theme “Company Secretaries – to Discover, Determine & Deliver - D3is very relevant and suitable at this juncture.  He said that it is a great initiative of Coimbatore Chapter to update our Professional Colleagues with the latest development in the Corporate Sector.

CS Nagendra D Rao in his address, appreciated Coimbatore Chapter for its efforts for continuously organizing the Residential programmes for the past 20 years. .  He said that it is a great initiative of Coimbatore Chapter to update our Professional Colleagues with the latest development in the Corporate Sector & Companies Act and he added that the deliberations and sharing of experience at the programme will provide an opportunity to the participants to discover their roles, determine the vision & mission and deliver the results to Stakeholders.

 A souvenir which was prepared on the occasion of the Residential programme was released by the Chief Guest Shri. P R Seshadri, MD & CEO, Karur Vysya Bank, Karur & CS Nagendra D Rao, Central Council Member, ICSI, New Delhi.

The Inaugural session concluded with a Vote of Thanks by CS K Duraiswami, Secretary, Coimbatore Chapter of SIRC of ICSI.

On 22.02.2019, 1st Technical session was handled by CA Gopal Krishna Raju, Regional Council Member, ICAI-SIRC, Chennaion the topic “Professional Opportunities for Company Secretaries under Valuation”.

On 23.02.2019, morning there was a ICSI Flag Hoisting Ceremony & Group Photo session was arranged for the delegates and CS AK Dixit, Officiating Secretary, ICSI hoisted the ICSI flag.

The second day programme commenced with the Special address by CS AK Dixit, Officiating Secretary, ICSI, New Delhi and in his speech, he expressed the opportunities for CS professionals in all the departments of the Central Government and also expressed the requisite of our assistance to all ministries including Ministry of Corporate Affairs. He also rang the bell of caution about affixing DSC / signing of documents , strict measures taken for valuation  and examination procedures of CS.

On 23.02.2019, the 2nd Technical session was handled by CS Narayan Shankar, Executive Vice President & Company Secretary, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., Mumbai on the topic “Latest SEBI Regulations” . Amendments in LODR / Act – warning signals to CS to be more cautious in signing and executing the documents, Impact of the proposed amendments to the regulations of UPSI and Insider trading.

3rd Technical session was handled by CA R Subramanian, Practicing Chartered Accountant, Chennai on the topic “Latest Amendments & Issues in GST”.

4th Technical session was handled by CS K S Ravichandran, KSR & Co. Company Secretaries, LLP, Coimbatore on the topic “Companies Act - Amendments & Ordinance”.

On 24.02.2019, 5th Technical Session addressed by CS A Mohankumar, Chairman, SIRC of ICSI on the topic  “Professional Networking & Perspectives”.

6th Technical Session addressed by Shri. V. Nallasenapathy, Member (Technical), National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), Mumbai on the topic “Latest Issues in IBC”.

All the above sessions were well admired by the participants and were also lively, enjoyable and interesting for the members and concluded with Questions & Answers session.

During the Valedictory Session CS AK Dixit, Officiating Secretary, ICSI said such programmes will enrich our members with the updated knowledge. CS A Mohan Kumar, Chairman, SIRC of ICSI said the scope for our profession is going to be much in demand in the near future and he appreciated Coimbatore Chapter for the effort for continuously organizing the programme and appreciated for providing the better students facilities like regular & weekend Oral Coaching Classes for all the levels of CS students.

During the valedictory session,the delegates from various regions shared their feedback and experience of the 2 days residential symposium with 181 delegates and thanked the Coimbatore Chapter for the wonderful and commendable arrangements, made during the programme in a professional way, and a remarkable one and also appreciated the Managing Committee Members and the staff members of Coimbatore Chapter for their enormous effort  in organizing this residential programme in a  successful manner. Apart from various technical sessions, the events like sightseeing, boating, Games, etc were arranged for the participants and everyone were happy and enjoyed the sessions and the overall arrangements of the programmes.

Professional Development Programme on “Protecting Controlling Interest of Promoters – Role of CS” on 9th March 2019 at Chapter Premises

Coimbatore Chapter had conducted a Professional Development Programme for Members & Students on 09.03.2019, Saturday at ICSI-Coimbatore Chapter on the topic “Protecting Controlling Interest of Promoters – Role of CS”.

CS Sundharesan J, Company Secretary in Practice, Bengaluru was the speaker of the programme. He gave an overall view about need for protecting the interest of the Promoters and their control and the role of Company Secretaries in guiding and advising the Promoters of the Company. Total 39 participants including 34 Members & 5 Students had attended the programme.

Soft Skills Development programme for CS Students on 20.03.2019, Wednesday at Chapter premises

Coimbatore Chapter of ICSI organized a Soft skills programme on the topic “Corporate Communication” on 20.03.2019, Wednesday at 5 pm at Chapter Premises. This special programme had benefited 25 students from Executive programme Regular Batch. The soft skills sessions was handled by the Senior Corporate Trainer Mr. M. Achyuth.

Campaign – Admission Utsav & Admission Centre

Admission Utsav:

With a view to increase the Brand Image of the institute and to increase the registration of CS course, Coimbatore Chapter of ICSI taken the initiative to conduct a special campaign, viz. “CS- Admission Utsav” 2019 during the month of March 2019.

The main objective of this campaign is to make aware the Plus Two passed students or Plus Two appearing students about the last date of CS Foundation admission (31st March), Importance of CS profession, procedure for admission, location and role of chapter etc. Posters were specially designed for this campaign which includes the details of Scope of CS, admission procedure, last dates, scholarships for pursuing CS course, coaching facilities at Chapter etc.

During this Campaign the chapter staff had visited 10 colleges with a request to place specially designed posters and Banners at their Campus for intimating their students about the Last Date of Registration, Admission Procedures, Contact details of Chapters etc. During the said campaign, Chapter officials also had visited News Paper offices with a request to publish the Press Release at Free of Cost about the information of “last date for registration for Foundation Programme” and “Special Admission Centre at Chapter” and the following News Papers had published the announcement at free of cost.

Admission Centre:

MEGA EVENT- Special Admission Camp at Chapter- Admission Centre- 55 students had registered within 4 days from 28-31 March 2019 from 10 Schools & Colleges

Chapter made special arrangements for the registration/admission camp for CS foundation programme during the last dates of registration from 28-31 March 2019.  Chapter had coordinated with colleges, accordingly as per the time slot given by the Chapter, colleges had sent their students directly to the chapter. Nearly 55 students had attended the campaign and completed the registration process made by the Chapter.

Around 55 students from the following 7 colleges and 5 schools had attended the admission camp from 28-31, March, 2019.
